Well it’s been one month since I’ve launched my blog and what a month it’s been! I’ll be telling you all about my first month thoughts, what the haters had to say, and I’ll also be sharing some cute pics I took this weekend with my new grey hair! (Eek!)

First of all, I have to say THANK YOU! The support and reception that my blog has received from friends and strangers has been AMAZING! I love running into people and hearing that not only are they reading it, but that they love it too! It’s always a bit nerve-racking to try a new project and put yourself out there, so the kind words really mean the world to me. While I have heard so many positive comments, the one I’ve heard the most is that my blog sounds just like me! That means so much to me because it means I’m being genuine and authentic and it’s coming across that way in my writing.

Of course not all the comments have been positive and there always has to be some haters out there. Some people make fun of me for the blog or for taking cheesy photos, and I even got asked what was the point? Well I guess there isn’t really a point. For me it was just a fun project, a new hobby, and a place to have a creative outlet. I had forgotten how much I loved writing and putting projects together! It has forced me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. And hey, if it’s getting me out of the house, and allowing me to get excited about something, well that’s the only point I need!

People have also said it would be too hard and I would fail. They’re right (not about the failing part!) it is hard! I wanted to quit multiple times especially when building my website. Each post I write takes me hours from taking the photos, to editing them, to writing and proofreading, to changing the layout and the font, adding hyperlinks etc etc! It isn’t really as fun as I thought it was going to be, but I’m always so proud of the finished product. Even if no one reads it, I’m really doing it for myself and I can look back and say hey I tried something new!

Now enough about the negative Nancy’s… let’s talk about something fun! After months of obsessing, I finally dyed my hair grey! My hairdresser @hairbyamberjoy is absolutely amazing so I trusted her and just let her do her thing. I am glad I did, because I am absolutely in love with the results! We got together and played around with some different styles and braids and just had some fun showing off the new color!

I know it’ll be a lot of maintenance, but I’m hoping I can upkeep it because I feel like I needed a change! I really do feel like a new me, not only with the hair, but with life in general! I am happier, more adventurous, excited, and I am honestly just having so much fun! I have so many post ideas, and I can’t wait to share them with you! I hope you’ll stick around!

  1. Hey Kyla! Congraulations on your first month of blogging! The site looks wonderful 🙂 I know what you mean by the amount of time it takes, that was one of the first things I noticed! I’m only in my first 6 months, and it’s been really fun connecting with other bloggers and being part of the community. I’ve really enjoyed your instagram account and will be reading your blog too! Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s a fun activity!

    Em xx
