Road trip/moving to Vancouver!

I’ve been wanting to move to Vancouver for what feels like forever and when I finally sold my house, it was time to take action! I got rid of most of my belongings and with what I had left, I packed up my little car and began my 23 hour drive to my new home!

Day 1- I set off from Winnipeg late in the day because I was running around trying to get last minute errands, of course! It took me just under 6 hours to get to Regina, Saskatchewan, my first stop! The drive wasn’t bad, fairly boring but I survived. It’s basically just a straight line of highway with miles of flatlands and farmer’s fields. Luckily my friend was meeting me in Regina to do the rest of the drive with me because I definitely couldn’t make it all the way on my own. Â I would eventually tire of my own company right? ?

Day 2- We left Regina early to get a head start on Banff. We had 9 hours ahead of us! I had been to Banff before but not for years and was super excited to see it again! Thanks to the Banff Park Lodge Resort Hotel for putting us up and giving us an amazing jacuzzi suite!

I remembered a cute little fondue restaurant, Banff Grizzly House that had amazing atmosphere so I made reservations there. Clearly I wasn’t a vegetarian the last time I had been there, and I was disappointed to only see one main dish on the menu that was vegetarian. If you’re adventurous when it comes to food, this is the place for you! They have shark, alligator, rattlesnake, ostrich, frogs legs ??? … I tried to contain my disappointment as I dipped my raw vegetables in the cheese. At least the fruit with the chocolate was amazing and now I know for next time!

Day 3- Up early again to start the drive (another 9 hour day!) I wanted to stop at Banff Upper Hot Springs because it’s amazing and thought it would be nice treat after all the driving.

We could have stayed there relaxing all day but we had to hit the road. Lucky for us, Lake Louise was on the way so we stopped there as well. Talk about a breathtaking place! You can’t even describe the beauty, you just have to see it to believe it!

Day 4- As we rolled into Vancouver around 1 am, I couldn’t believe we had actually made it! I was so excited to be in my new home town and show my friend my beautiful new city. The beach was in order (of course!), dinner in Gastown and shopping on Robson! I can’t believe I’ve FINALLY made it to Vancouver, and I couldn’t be more excited to start my next chapter in this incredible city!
